By Ucomeafrik Team9 min read

The short version

Olumo Rock gate fee and Lekki Conservation Centre price list for 2026: reported prices, what each ticket covers and how to avoid overpaying.

How much do Olumo Rock and Lekki Conservation Centre cost in 2026?

For Olumo Rock, the most reliable figure is the standard fee Ogun State reinstated in August 2025: ₦3,000 for adults and ₦1,500 for children. For Lekki Conservation Centre, 2026 guides report roughly ₦5,000 for adult entry, with the canopy walk charged separately, but the canopy-walk price is reported anywhere from about ₦1,500 to ₦5,000.

Neither site publishes a fee schedule that we could find, so treat every number below as a planning budget and confirm before you travel. The sections below explain where each figure comes from, why they disagree and how to avoid overpaying.

Why do the fees you find online disagree?

If you have searched for these prices you have seen wildly different numbers, sometimes in the same week. There are four ordinary reasons for that, and knowing them helps you judge what you read.

Prices genuinely changed. Olumo Rock was free to enter for a period in 2025, then paid access was restored on 23 August 2025. Any page written before or during the free period is out of date. Lekki's fees have also moved more than once in recent years.

Bundles are described differently. One guide quotes entry only, another quotes entry plus the canopy walk, and a third adds a guide fee. The same visit can be described as ₦3,000 or ₦8,000 depending on what the writer counted.

Naira conversions go stale. Many guides list a dollar price next to the naira price. Because the exchange rate moves, a conversion that was right at publication can be noticeably wrong within months. Convert at the rate on the day you travel.

Social posts are not price lists. Some of the lowest and highest numbers come from short videos and comment threads. They can be accurate for one person on one day, but they are not official and they are rarely dated.

What is the Olumo Rock gate fee in 2026?

According to a report of the official announcement, Ogun State ended a period of free entry to the Olumo Rock complex on Saturday 23 August 2025 and restored standard fees of ₦3,000 for adults and ₦1,500 for children, collected through a new e-ticketing platform. The statement was attributed to the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, and cited safety concerns over very large crowds.

That is the most authoritative figure available, so it is the one to budget on. It is also at least a year old, and 2026-dated third-party guides report slightly different amounts. Some list adult entry around ₦2,500, others describe separate stairway and elevator tiers (for example about ₦1,500 for adults on the stairway and ₦2,500 on the elevator), plus extra charges for cameras, guides and parking.

We could not confirm any of those extras against an official source. Our advice is to budget the ₦3,000 adult fee, add a cushion for an elevator ticket, a guide and parking, and treat anything cheaper as a pleasant surprise. For the history and the climb itself, see our Olumo Rock climbing guide and our complete Abeokuta and Olumo Rock guide.

What might your Olumo ticket not cover?

When you reach the ticket booth, ask exactly what the price includes before you pay, because add-ons are where visitors most often feel they overpaid. Questions worth asking:

  • Is the elevator included, or is it a separate ticket?
  • Is a guide included, and is it a fixed fee or a tip?
  • Is there a charge for using a phone camera or a professional camera?
  • Is parking charged separately?
  • Is there a different rate for non-residents?

Ask for a receipt or an e-ticket every time. If a price is quoted verbally and changes at the next counter, politely ask to see the posted list.

What is the Lekki Conservation Centre price list for 2026?

An April 2026 Lagos travel guide lists adult entry at ₦5,000 and children at ₦3,000. Another 2026 guide gives entry at around ₦5,000 and says the canopy walk is an additional ticket. The canopy-walk price is where sources split: figures of ₦1,500, ₦2,500 and ₦5,000 all appear, and social-media posts quote lower all-in amounts.

Older sources are lower still, with figures around ₦1,000 and ₦4,000 for entry, which are probably outdated. Our own Lekki Conservation Centre visitor guide reports about ₦5,000 for entry plus ₦1,500 for the canopy walk, which sits at the low end of the current range.

The practical conclusion: budget about ₦5,000 per adult for entry and set aside up to another ₦5,000 for the canopy walk. If the walkway is the reason you are going, that is the number to confirm. The centre is reported to answer price questions by phone and on social media, so a quick message the day before saves guessing at the gate.

What do you get for the Lekki fee?

Entry gives you access to the reserve's ground-level trails through wetland, grassland and mangrove, where monkeys, monitor lizards and birds are commonly seen. The elevated canopy walkway, which at roughly 401 meters is billed as Africa's longest, is the part that is usually ticketed separately.

Opening hours are reported as 8:30am to 5pm, seven days a week. If you only have limited time, do the trails first when wildlife is most active, then take the walkway. For a full plan of the visit, our Lekki visitor guide has a sample half-day schedule.

How much should you budget for each day trip?

Use the ticket prices as a base, then add the costs that are not printed on any price list. These vary too much to quote reliably, so we show them as items to price, not numbers.

Add a 15 to 20 percent cushion to the total, because small unplanned costs such as tips, parking and bottled water are what blow a budget. Our Nigeria trip cost breakdown and the guide to what $10 gets in Lagos show what everyday spending looks like around these attractions.

Do foreign visitors pay a different price?

We could not find a published non-resident rate for either site. Some attractions in Nigeria do charge different rates for residents and visitors, so it is reasonable to ask. If you are quoted a higher price at the gate, ask politely whether there is a posted tariff and request a receipt.

Do not assume a quoted price is a scam, and do not assume it is fair. The best protection is to know the likely range in advance, which is what the figures above are for.

How do you avoid overpaying or being scammed?

Most problems at attractions are small, but a few habits remove nearly all of them.

  • Buy tickets only at the official booth or through the official e-ticket platform. Be wary of people outside the gate who offer to "arrange" tickets.
  • Agree any guide fee before the guide starts. Fixed price, confirmed out loud, is better than "pay what you like" afterwards.
  • Carry small notes. Having exact change avoids awkward rounding in the seller's favor.
  • Keep your receipt or e-ticket until you leave, in case you need to re-enter or resolve a dispute.
  • Ask what is included before paying, not after.

If you would rather not manage any of this yourself, a guided day handles tickets, guides and timing for you, and the price is agreed in advance. See our tour lineup or message us for a quote.

When should you go to avoid crowds?

Crowd safety is the reason Olumo Rock's free entry period ended early, so go early on a weekday if you can. Large groups on narrow steps and stairways are uncomfortable and, at peak times, genuinely risky. Holidays and weekends are busiest.

At Lekki, the first hour after opening is the quietest and coolest, and weekdays are calmer than weekends, when local families and groups arrive. Remember that December is Lagos's busiest month, so plan around Detty December if you are visiting then.

Should you visit both on the same day?

No. They are on opposite sides of the Lagos region: Lekki is on the city's eastern edge, and Abeokuta is a 60 to 90 minute drive north of Lagos. Combining them means hours in traffic and rushed visits at both.

Do Lekki as a half-day in Lagos and Olumo Rock as a separate day trip. If you have a few days, add Badagry for heritage, which we cover in our Badagry slave route guide, and see our guide to the best things to do in Nigeria for how to sequence them.

How do you confirm the current price?

Do these in order, and write the answer down:

  1. Search for the attraction's official social media page and message them. Lekki Conservation Centre is reported to respond to price questions this way.
  2. Look for Ogun State's official tourism announcements or the e-ticket platform for Olumo Rock, which is where fees are processed.
  3. Ask the ticket booth to show you the posted price list before you pay.
  4. If you are traveling with us, message us on WhatsApp and we will confirm the current price for your date.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Olumo Rock gate fee in 2026?

The most reliable figure is ₦3,000 for adults and ₦1,500 for children, reinstated by Ogun State in August 2025 through an e-ticketing platform. Some 2026 guides report different amounts and extra charges for the elevator, camera, guide and parking, so confirm before you go.

Is Olumo Rock free to visit?

Not currently. Entry was free for a period in 2025, but Ogun State ended the free-entry period on 23 August 2025 and restored paid access, citing crowd safety.

How much is the canopy walk at Lekki Conservation Centre?

Sources disagree. The canopy walk is usually charged on top of entry, with figures from about ₦1,500 to ₦5,000 reported. Budget toward the higher end and confirm with the centre before you travel.

How much is entry to Lekki Conservation Centre for adults and children?

A 2026 guide reports about ₦5,000 for adults and ₦3,000 for children. Some sources describe height-based child rates, so ask at the gate if you are bringing young children.

Do I need to book Olumo Rock tickets online?

Fees are handled through an e-ticketing platform according to the 2025 announcement, but the details of how visitors use it were not published in the sources we found. Check the current process before you go and keep your receipt or e-ticket.

Can I visit Olumo Rock and Lekki Conservation Centre in one day?

It is not recommended. They sit on opposite sides of the Lagos region, and combining them means long drives in traffic. Treat them as two separate outings.

Is a guide worth paying for at these sites?

At Olumo Rock, a guide adds history that is not signposted, such as the Egba refuge story. At Lekki, a guide helps most on the trails for spotting wildlife. In both cases, agree the price before the visit starts.
