Tour overview
Day 1: Arrival, picked up by Confidence and check into hotel for relaxation (maybe a night out to Osu oxford street or 123 Jazz bar )
Day 2: A city tour of Accra
ACCRA City Tour (visit to historical landmarks such as W. E. B. Dubois Center for Pan African Culture,Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Independence/Black Star Square, National Museum,Osu (formerly Christiansborg) Castle-the previous seat of the Ghanaian Presidency,Jamestown, Flagstaff House , Kane Kwesi Carpentry workshop. O/N Paloma hotel
Day 3: Travel/ Trip to cape coast/ Elmina
This morning will be to Cape Coast and we shall explore and experience the Cape Coast Castle on a guided tour. Cape Coast Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and was one of the departure points for Africans being sent into slavery in the Americas. The castle is home to the infamous “Door of No Return”. O/N at One Africa Lodge
Day 4: KUMASI
After breakfast we shall embark on 6 hour trip from cape coast to Kumasi. Arrive in kumasi and if there is time we shall visit the Ashanti craft villages;The woodcarving village of Ahwiaa, known for the talented craftsmen who fashion royal stools, walking sticks and fertility dolls from wood. Day 5: KUMASI
An early morning visit to Bonwire, where the famous Kente cloth is handmade on looms in a time-honored tradition passed down through generations. You will see the Kente weavers in process of creating Kente cloth in various styles and have the opportunity to try your hand at weaving.
Also on our list is to visit the Village of Ntonso where artisan’s hand-stamp patterns on cotton cloth to make Adinkra textiles. You will learn how the black dye is made from the bark of trees. After this we shall leave for akosombo. O/N in Akosombo
Day 6 : Volta
Set sail on the Dodi Princess
The cruise ship traverses Lake Volta and, despite the name, predates the famously doomed relationship between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed. Built at the Tema Shipyard in 1977 and originally intended to haul cargo, it was converted into a passenger ship in 1991. It has three decks, with the lower one air conditioned, a cocktail bar, an area for barbecuing and even a sick bay. On a good day out, expect photo-worthy views, barbecue lunches and live music on deck. Just 5 km from the shores of Lake Volta is the popular stop, Dodi Island..
return to Accra ( IF WE ARE ON TIME.) and over night in Paloma Hotel or similar.
Day 7 : Bojo Beach resort
Day 8 : Relaxation . If the flight will be in the evening, we can go for shopping/sight seeing at Accra mall). Relaxation and departure.
