My Trip to Ghana I made my first pilgrimage to Africa and it was simply a life changing experience. Confidence made my first time in the Motherland seamless. I traveled solo and any concerns that I may have had were eased by working with Confidence. His knowledge of his Country and Culture made my journey a once in a lifetime experience. I would strongly recommend his services for anyone looking to visit Africa.

NOT A JOURNEY, AN ADVENTURE! Ucomeafrika was founded by Nigerian brothers Confidence and Evans Aguiyi, and provides tours all over West Africa, particularly Ghana and Nigeria. They are passionate about their career and always looking to improve. Their inside knowledge of their native Nigeria is very much appreciated in places like the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library. When you tour with them, you will experience a wide spectrum of Nigerian life, whether in a group or solo. My visit included Lagos, Abeokuta, Benin City, and Ibadan. Here is my list of "mosts and leasts:" 1. Most spectacular: Nike Art Gallery and Obasanjo Presidential Library (human-created); Olumo Rock (naturally created) 2. Scariest traffic: Benin City 3. Biggest surprise: meeting royal descendant HRH Ekpen Kelvin Edigin of Benin City 4. Most informative: Benin City National Museum 5. Best accommodations: Radisson Ikeja 6. Best food: Radisson Ikeja 7. Least interesting: Ibadan ITA Forest Reserve (but still okay) 8. Worst accommodations: ITA Forest Reserve lodgings (not recommended!) 9. Most annoying: constant restrictions on photography even outdoors in public spots 10. Most fascinating, Fela Kuti's New Afrika Shrine and home. 11. Best merchandise: brass and bronze works, Benin City 12. Worst "roads": outskirts of Benin City In some areas between the most prominent landmarks, I would have liked a little narrative, since I enjoy trivia, e.g. The market we're passing is called X, and it's oldest/biggest/tiniest market in West Africa/Nigera etc.. Also, I like to be oriented: This is the southern/northern/northeastern part of the city/state/country and we are headed west/east etc. All in all a great experience with some hitches. I know the Aguiyi brothers are looking forward to the day they can get a larger car for the solo tours!

Travel with Confidence I traveled in January 2020, just before COVID hit the world. I met Confidence in Ivory Coast and traveled through that country first. He arranged a driver to pickup my sister in Ghana and the four of us continued to travel through Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria. Before I arrived I had to change my itinerary a couple of times and Confidence willingly made the changes I needed to add my sister coming, etc. I was reluctant to pay the entire amount of the tour when I arrived (I had sent over a deposit before I arrived), but we worked out a compromise for paying him as needed to cover costs. As an American I wasn't accustomed to paying 100% up front, so you may want to discuss the payment arrangements with Confidence so you feel comfortable with the needed payments. Evans, Confidence's brother and driver, was a great addition to our group as the roads are totally treacherous in West Africa, and you want to feel safe while you are over there driving to different places! Because I wanted to meet my sponsored child in Ghana while I was there, we had to drive on some very bad roads, and Evans did an excellent job of getting us there safely!! We had a car with Nigerian license plates to make it easier to cross into Nigeria. This smaller vehicle was OK for 4 people, but when we added a French speaking guide in Togo and Benin, it was quite crowded in the back seat with 3 adults. You may want to discuss upgrading to a larger vehicle depending on the number of people in your party. I am so happy to have been able to meet my sponsored child and see extraordinary West Africa! As a travel agent, I have traveled the world and this trip was one of the most memorable!! Confidence and Evans gave us so much insight into life in Africa and we had an awesome time! Also, Confidence's wife is an excellent seamstress and sells the most beautiful African dresses. I asked if she could make me a small dress for my granddaughter and she was able to do this in a couple of days, and I also purchased a few children's shirts out of their beautiful fabrics!

Great Guide in West Africa I have hired Confidence twice for trips in West Africa and both were lovely experiences. He makes an intimidating part of the world easy. He was always professional, punctual and personable. Would definitely hire again.

My Review The actual tours and learning were great. There were a whole lot of hiccups. Definitely spent way more money than the tour was worth. I made specific requests namely, to be a part of a group, go to Ghana and have a nice air conditioned vehicle. 😳 I should have been told before my arrival that Togos border was closed and I could have postponed my trip. Don't wait til I get there. I ended up having to spend yet $615 for flight to Ghana, something that was supposed to be included. I also was taken to a very, very low budget hotel. I had to pay for a hotel upgrade. I never usually hire tour people and will never do it again.

Fun nightlife My experience visiting lagos and enjoying the nightlife was really great, unlike reports about hostility in Nigeria, Mr. Confidence was really tough on making sure we were totally safe and comfortable....lagos island has got the best clubs and bars for a real night life...

Awesome and secured experience It was a great experience indeed, we visited a couple of bars and had a great watching a few live performances at he Fela shrine. Confidence was absolutely ay the top of making sure we were secured all through...great experience.

Total Confidence in Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Ghana Booking with Confidence was easy and worry free. All we needed for our trip from NYC to Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Ghana was communicated clearly through email correspondence with Confidence, our tour guide extraordinaire. Hotels, visas, transportation driving across 4 West Africa countries, exchanging money, restaurants, museums, tours - was all taken care of AND believe me, we were amazed at all we saw and did during our 10 day vacation with Confidence. We are now family! We met so many wonderful new friends during our trip of a lifetime. I can't wait to go back to see Confidence and more of West Africa! You too will love it!
